On Small and Menial Tasks

"The Divine mind works in paradox. In the human mind in order to be strong it has to be big; in the Divine mind in order to be strong, it IS small. Everything is paradoxical; it is the opposite. You've got to come to know the opposite. In the human mind in order to move a mountain you need bombs, in the Divine mind you need a mustard seed. That doesn't make any sense to the human mind. What are you working with? You are learning a different level of power, you are learning Divine power, you are learning Divine order, and you are learning the way the Divine orders and speaks through your life. Here is where you find yourself developing the sweetness of sight that allows you to look at every task you do and recognize there is no such a thing as a "small task" if this is the task I am supposed to do. There is no such a thing as a "meaningless" thing, as a "meaningless " conversation if this is the conversation I am supposed to have. That is very difficult to live in that: It sounds sweet to hear, and you think in theory "oh, doesn't that feel good?" But when you get to applying the discipline of living in that perception that says there is no such a thing as a small task, and the task that you are asked to do day after day after day is to care for a crippled relative and you feel like your life is passing in front of you, it is very hard to hold your center... It is very hard to hold your center when you feel like you are a creative person whose creativity is going unexpressed and you find yourself doing menial tasks to pay the bills, it is very hard to say "OK, God, this is what you want me to do? This is my path of service? This is great, I am having a good time here!" That is very difficult... But what you are actually learning, what we are actually learning when we go through that is "I am learning to trust that there is no such a thing as an insignificant task, You are asking me to learn that truth, You are asking me to trust that truth".
